I am selling Beer Style Guidelines.

I’ve never sold an app before. So, I’m not entirely sure what’s involved, but I have some ideas listed below. But I’d like to sell it, rather than shut it down. I hope someone out there would like to take over the app and improve it.

I listed Beer Style Guidelines on the App Store in June of 2015. That’s been over 10 years of development and support. Since the original launch, I’ve released 50 updates to the app.

I don’t homebrew much anymore. In the last year or so, I’ve lost interest in it. The loss of interest started with a lack of time. Then, once I had a bit more time, I just found other things to do.

The same can be said about my interest in the app. I want to move on to something else. I have ideas for new projects.

I don’t want to leave the app abandoned. I would love to pass the Beer Style Guidelines on to someone who wants to maintain and update the app.

What do you get with the purchase?

You’ll get the app itself. It’s an iOS, iPadOS, and macOS app. The codebase is fairly mature and has a pretty low crash rate. The app is written in Swift and SwiftUI. There are a few UIKit classes, but only where there were limitations in SwiftUI.

You’ll also get the various websites. The main website is a static website. The blog is written in Jekyll.

I can walk you through the app and website codebases.

The following will be transferred to you:

• The iOS, iPadOS, and macOS App Store listing.
• The app GitHub repository.
  • Includes source code and assets.
• The website domain name.
• The website GitHub repository.
  • Includes the website blog repository.

App Store Connect reports that in the last month (October 3 - November 1), the app had 12.3k impressions and 3.32k sessions.

The app is listed for free, so there aren’t any monetary sales. There is a tip jar within the app. I don’t get many donations. But what you do with this would be up to you.

Beer Style Guidelines v2025.1 has been released for iOS, iPadOS and macOS. This version includes:

• Added Brewers Association 2024 Guidelines.

The Brewers Association 2024 Guidelines include gravities in Plato just like the Brewers Association Guidelines do.

Most posts here will be the release notes for each app release. This includes the upcoming v2025.1 release (expected later this month).
